Fabric Florals are Forever!

Instead of splurging on expensive flowers for your wedding, show your DIY side and make them out of felt and have them last forever! My friend Joe & his creative wife Jenell, had a truly unique wedding in the Arts District here in downtown Phoenix. Jenell crafted her bouquet and Joe’s boutonniere from felt and it looks simply stunning!! I love, love, love it — thanks for the inspiration guys!! (Good news for the crafting impaired — if you don’t think you can fashion up a felt floral arrangement by yourself, get some help from princesslasertron or HeyMiemie)

Tip Top Shape

Every element of your wedding should express your style, creativity, and personality -- and your cake topper should be no different! As you know, I have a passion for all things hand-crafted and these adorable birds (what's with my bird obsession lately?) are just so adorable and ready to top your cake! Created by cottonbirddesigns, each chirpy couple is made using vintage fabrics and embellished with accents of beadwork and flowers. Look at that four button waistcoat on the groom! Unique, modern, vintage and PERFECT!

I HEART THESE SHOES!

Okay, I want these shoes. Okay, I'm not getting married. Okay, but I want these shoes! These showstoppers by Luichiny are called "Wicked" and come in a variety of colors to match your personality -- lime green, purple, pink, black, and orange just to name a few! BUT! They are a hot item & the colors in stock can vary place to place. Try endless.com, amazon.com or overstock.com to see what you can get your hands on!

Helena + Matus

This week I’m getting started on announcements for Helena & Matus. They are having a small, private ceremony for just their family so they wanted to send out some simple announcements letting all their friends know they’ve tied the knot. Being that Helena is from Croatia and Matus is from Slovakia, the most important thing to them is that their families will be here to celebrate with them. Their colors are black, silver, and blue so we are going to mount a black & white photo of the couple from their wedding day on a black backing layer. Around the photo will be a blue belly band with the text announcing their marriage and we’ll finish up with a matching blue envelope. I think we’ll be moving these quickly, so I’ll be posting a draft soon!

Love the Birds

Yeah, yeah, we know throwing rice at a wedding is a bad idea — there's no need to sacrifice a bird's life for the sake of tradition! Here's a great alternative, throw bird seed! These cute little packets of bird seed are hand stamped and can even be customized with your monogram! Get them from TheWeddingPerch on Etsy!

Passion with a Purpose

Today I heard Pam Gaber, of Gabriel’s Angels, talk about the importance of passion. She stressed that while it is imperative to be passionate about something in your life, you must have a purpose. WHY are you passionate about your job, your charity, or your cause? I am truly passionate about the invitations I design & the couples that I am designing them for…but WHY? I love having a part in helping to create the most important day of these couples’ lives. I love helping them realize their perfect invitations and making the process, from start to finish, an enjoyable one. Every single time I get wrapped up in the excitement of them seeing the first draft of their invitation with their names on it. It truly is my favorite part! It seems like that is the moment when everything becomes real for them and I can just feel their excitement! When the bride is so happy and after the “oh my gosh!,” hugs, gasps — it makes me realize it’s that moment that is the purpose of my passion!

Now find yours too!
